Dottie's Third Coast FAQ

Why only small dogs under 20 lbs?

The short answer?  Logistics.  We adore large breeds too, but decided to focus on littles due to space and other constraints – we prefer a dog that can be easily lifted and carried where necessary.  This gives our business a unique niche in which to perfect and elevate the dog’s care and experience.

How do you arrive at pricing?  Why are gratuities discouraged/not accepted?

We guarantee a premium experience and all rates are flat, regardless of breed, length of hair, etc.  Pricing is set so that our dog care experts make a living wage and do not have to rely on tips, while keeping the products and services exceptional.

Jean has never liked the implication that level of service may be commensurate with size of gratuity.  She worked as a self-employed Licensed Massage Therapist for 15 years, and never accepted a single tip – preferring to encourage regulars to come back more often if they enjoyed the service.

Where does my dog go once you take them?

We don’t have specific walk routes, so that is based on may variables such as start point, weather, your dog’s habits and needs, etc.  We can promise that your pet, at any given time, won’t be much more than ¼ mile from your home or hotel.

Bathing takes place in a private space in the Gold Coast.  We have an off leash space at the same location for a bit of safe, free roaming fun during visits.

How do I make a payment?

We have an online portal at www.dottiesthirdcoast.com for credit card payments, and can also take Venmo or Zelle in person.  All services can be paid ahead of time online, or directly before service with your pet handler (Venmo or Zelle).

For Sitting services over one night, we require half down and half upon your return.  This leaves things open to adjustment, in case your plans change and you’d like to add on or shorten your time away.

Does DTC have any restrictions on what pets they will serve?

We pride ourselves on being professional dog handlers.  Making your yappy, nervous or baby feel comfortable is what we do!  However, there are a few parameters who hold onto.

-20 lb max weight.  We have a scale and arent’ afraid to use it if there is any doubt.

-We love puppies, but all dogs over 5 months of age must have had their spay/neuter and be fully recovered from that surgery.  No unaltered dogs accepted.

-Cats are amazing.  We are still on the fence about offering care to our feline friends in your home.  If that is of interest to you, please ask!  We may well be able to accommodate your cat care visit.
